General
The Institute for National Security Studies (henceforth: “the Institute”) respects the privacy of users of the Institute’s Website, social network, or any platform or service employed by the Institute (henceforth referred to collectively as “the Sites”).
Surfing at the sites, or any other use of them, is subject to this privacy policy and indicates your consent to it. The purpose of this privacy policy is to indicate and describe the information that the Institute gathers during use of the Sites, the use made of it, and your rights regarding the information.
This policy is written in the masculine gender for convenience sake only, and it is intended for both men and women.
Some of the services in the Sites require registration. As part of the registration process, you will be asked to provide personal information, such as first name, surname, electronic mail address, telephone no., etc. (henceforth: “the Information”).
The details you provide to the Institute are given of your own will when registering for the services on the Sites or for using them, and they will be stored in the Institute’s database, as long as deemed necessary by law. You are not required by law to provide the said information; however, if you choose not to do so, you will not be able to make use of the services or the Sites.
Additionally, while using the Sites, information on yourself might be collected that does not identify you personally and is not stored in the database along with your personal details. This is merely accumulated, statistical data, for example: advertisements that you read on the Sites, the pages you looked at, the offers and services that interested you, the IP address from which the Sites were accessed, etc.
The use of information
The use of Information collected by the Institute will only be made as per this privacy policy or as instructed by any law, for the following reasons:
- To enable the user to benefit from the various services on the Sites;
- To improve and enrich the services and content offered on the Sites;
- To modify or cancel services and content already existing on the Sites;
- For the purpose of procuring products and services on the Sites, including publicizing information and content;
- In order to adapt the advertisements presented during your visit at Sites to your realms of interest;
- To enable you to approach the Institute by means of the Sites, registering for newsletters, and registering for some of the programs or services the Institute offers;
- In order to operate the Sites;
- In order to conduct research or statistical analyses of surfing behavior and characteristics (this research will be without personal details and/or identity of the surfer).
Providing Information to third parties
The Institute will not provide your personal details and the Information collected on your activity to a third party (insofar as the details and information as mentioned identify you personally) on the Sites except in the following cases:
- When you procure products and services from commercial and content partners of the Institute, or when participating in content activities of a third party, or in activities of the Institute shared with a third party presented on the Sites. In these cases, the information required by these partners will be provided to them in order to complete the procurement procedure, manage the relevant content activity, and maintain contact with you;
- In the event you breach this privacy policy or any other agreement you have with the Institute, or if by means of the Sites, or in relation to them, you conduct activity, deemed illegal, or attempt to conduct such activity;
- In the event any dispute, complaint, claim, demand, or legal proceedings arise between you and the Institute;
- If the Institute organizes the Sites’ activities as part of another corporation, and in the event it merges with another entity or it merges site activity with activity of a third party, it will be entitled to transfer to the new corporation a copy of the Information accumulated on you in the Sites or any statistical information it has, on condition this corporation undertakes to adhere to the terms of this privacy policy with respect to you;
- Inasmuch as it is obligatory, or required, by law, if a court order or instruction of a qualified authority is received requiring that your details or Information on you be provided to a third party.
Cookies
Some or all of the Sites use cookies for the purpose of their current and sound operation. This includes collecting statistical information on how you use the Sites and verifying details, in order to adapt the Sites to your personal preferences and for information security purposes.
Cookies are text files that your browser creates by instruction from the Institute’s computers. Some of the cookies expire when the browser is closed and others are saved on the hard drive of the user’s computer. The cookies contain varied information as per the pages the user visited, the duration of the visit at the Sites, from where he reached the Site, and sections and information the user wishes to see when entering the Site and more.
Modern browsers include a possibility for blocking the receipt of cookies. If you do not know how to do this, check the help file of the browser you are using.
Information security
The Institute uses the latest systems and procedures for information security at the Sites. While these systems and procedures reduce the risks of unauthorized access, they do not afford complete security. Therefore, the Institute cannot guarantee that its services or Sites will be totally immune to unauthorized access to the information stored in them.
The right to view information
According to the Privacy Protection Law of 1981, every individual is entitled to review information on himself stored in a database. A person who reviewed information on himself and found it to be not true, complete, clear, or up-to-date, is entitled to demand that the database owner correct or delete the information.
Such a request must be sent to info@inss.org.il.
Additionally, if the information in the Institute’s databases is used for approaching you personally, according to the Privacy Protection Law, 1981, you are entitled to demand in writing that the information relating to you be deleted from the database.
Changes in the privacy policy
In the event significant changes are made in the instructions regarding this policy concerning the use of personal information you provided, notice to this effect will be publicized on the home page of the Sites.
