The INSS is an independent, nonpartisan, policy-oriented civilian research institute striving to strengthen Israel's national security.

The Institute works to secure Israel's future as the democratic nation-state of the Jewish people, grounded in the principles of liberty, justice, peace, and equality, in the spirit of Israel's Declaration of Independence. In doing so, the Institute strives to ensure Israel's standing as a regional power and anchor its position within the global community of liberal democracies.
