No sizeable withdrawal of American forces from Iraq is expected in the near future. For now, the US administration continues to reaffirm its commitment to achieving the principal objective of the Iraq War: establishing a stable, moderate, democratic regime aligned with the United States and the West. The US contends that with patience, a period of several years to combat terror, and the willingness to pay the price of perseverance, these objectives can be achieved.
