May 25, 2021
The Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) mourns the untimely passing of our friend and colleague Col. (ret.) Dr. Shmuel (Shmulik) Even.
Shmulik was a senior research fellow at INSS for many years. His research interests, wide and varied, focused primarily on economic issues and national security. He was a prolific writer, and published a great deal on Israel’s security concept, defense budgets and expenditures, intelligence, cyber warfare, and the political process with the Palestinians (see his publications in English at https://bit.ly/34cMz7o.
Shmulik was a sharp intellectual, critical and independent thinker, and renaissance man – and above all, a good friend. We have benefited from his singular contribution to the Institute, and he will be sorely missed – both at INSS and among other national security researchers.
We extend our most heartfelt condolences to Shmulik’s family. May his memory be a blessing.
