The Gulf states, in particular Saudi Arabia, have received a great deal of media of attention in recent years – some of it positive, some less so. What is clear is that the Gulf has taken on the role of setting the regional agenda of the Arab world, and thus Israel is affected both directly and indirectly by what happens there. Yet despite the Arabian Peninsula’s key role in the region and its impact on Israeli interests, the region remains enigmatic to many in Israel. The INSS conference focused on reevaluating the opportunities as well as the challenges this unique and dynamic theater presents to Israel.
