Abir Gitlin is a Neubauer Research Associate at the INSS Data Analytics Center and a Ph.D. candidate in International Relations and Environmental Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, specializing in political psychology, contentious politics, and public opinion. Abir earned a BA (cum laude) in Psychology and International Studies from the University of Miami (FL), and an MA in International Relations from Hebrew University as part of the Davis Institute’s direct PhD track (Telem). During his doctoral studies, Abir earned additional support from the Mandel Scholarship Doctoral Program and the Excellence in Environmental Research Scholarship. His dissertation investigates political polarization around climate change and meat consumption, focusing on strategies to promote policies and behaviors encouraging meat reduction.
Before graduate school, Abir served as a parliamentary advisor in the Knesset and subsequently worked in business development. During his graduate studies, he has also been a teaching assistant for several research methods courses, including advanced methodology courses at both Reichman University and Hebrew University.
