On March 26, 2018, INSS held a conference presenting the results of a major research project conducted at the Institute in 2017. The aim of the project was to outline possible scenarios in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict arena, and as part of the research, six principal scenarios were analyzed: continuation of the current status quo; a settlement based on two states; an Israeli move toward separation; annexation of the settlements, or annexation of all of Area C; one state with full rights for the Palestinians; or one state with limited rights for the Palestinians. The scenarios were examined with respect to several basic situations in the Palestinian, regional, and international theaters. Analysis of the scenarios led to analysis of the threats and challenges facing Israel in each scenario, and subsequently to analysis of possible responses to the threats and challenges in each of the scenarios.
