About
“Post-truth” was chosen in 2016 by Oxford Dictionaries as the word of the year, and along with “fake news” has become a contemporary buzzword. However, are we indeed in a period of post-truth and fake news? How do these phenomena affect national security and democracy? Can technology help repair the damage caused? And what influenced the elections of 2019? These and other questions were addressed in the opening event of the INSS Lipkin-Shahak Program, “National Security and Democracy in an Era of Post-Truth and Fake News.” Among the participants were INSS researchers, and experts from the worlds of media, technology, and politics.
