May 2019 marks seven decades of Israel-UN relations, and INSS marked this milestone with a conference that brought together Israeli and international officials and former position holders, researchers, and civil society leaders. The conference highlighted the complexity of Israel-UN relations, the cooperation between the two entities, and the fluctuations in Israel's approach to the UN: from perceiving it as an irrelevant organization, to engaging and utilizing its platform to improve Israel's international standing. The evening included a keynote address by UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process and Envoy of the Secretary-General to the Quartet Mr. Nickolay Mladenov, and a panel with three Israeli Ambassadors to the UN.
