Dr. Gabi Siboni, head of the INSS Cyber Program, opened the annual conference on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, and spoke about the attempts by “Anonymous” to attack Israel in the cyber realm. “In contrast to last year, they were unable to disrupt Israel’s routine,” he said. His remarks were followed by remarks by Paul de Souza, Director of CSFI, who said that “Israel is amazing in its technology and its human capital, notwithstanding its geographical location.” Dr. Eviatar Matania, head of Israel’s National Cyber Bureau, the Prime Minister’s Office, delivered the opening keynote address. He noted, “I find “new ideas and strategies bring people to discuss the cyber field, and clearly the cyber issue must be a national issue led on a national scale, in order to take in the full picture.”

Major General Uzi Moscovici, head of IDF J6/C4I Directorate also referred to yesterday’s cyber attack and said “that we were prepared for yesterday’s attack. We were aware of its plans and we saw its lack of success. There is no need to fear an attack of this sort; the problem is with an unidentifiable enemy.”
