Across Europe there has been a worrisome rise in in expressions of antisemitism. Antisemitic discourse, which was generally associated with the fringes of society, is now at the center of the public-political debate, and even figures among some ruling parties. How should Israel respond to this phenomenon? How can it use its relations with European states and the European Union in order to forge a united struggle against the phenomenon? What policy should the government adopt regarding the rise of populist anti-Semitic parties in Europe? This conference addressed these and other questions, and consider the significance of the commitment by the European Council to protect Jewish communities, to adopt a working definition of antisemitism, and to combat antisemisitsm.
