The strong strategic support (military, economic and diplomatic) provided by the United States serves as a cornerstone of Israel's national security. The erosion of American support for Israel could seriously harm the national security of the State of Israel.
Deep undercurrents in American society, politics, media, and education threaten this long-standing support. These processes are the result of deep demographic and social changes in America. After years of emphasizing the importance of Israel as a bi-partisan issue in the United States, the Democratic Party's unequivocal support for Israel and Israel's consensus status in mainstream American politics are being undermined.
On Nov 14th 2022, about 200 guests from Israel and the United States, including senior officials from Israel's security system, participated in a conference, "Israel-US Relations: Trends and Looking Ahead" which was held in Tel Aviv and was initiated by the INSS in cooperation with the Reut Group and the Israel Institute for Economic Planning led by Yossi Hollander. The conference addressed the relationship between Israel and the United States, with a particular focus on the national security challenges posed to Israel as a result of various social and political developments occurring within both countries.
